Every now and then it hits me how lucky I am to be a wedding celebrant in the South West UK.
I mean, look at the photo above. Magic.
There are parts of the country where weddings are beautiful. And then there is the South West. If you work as a wedding celebrant Dorset or anywhere across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, you quickly realise the scenery is doing half the work for you!
This wedding, for example, was all about how the bride and groom had overcome major challenges to be together, and in the early days of their relationship had literally had to scale hillsides and traverse inclines just to hang out!
Those hills, those hills exactly. The hills that provided the backdrop to their wedding.
Now granted, not everyone can get married in this way, but location is important! And man do we have some good ones in the South West...
One weekend you might be standing on the cliffs along the Jurassic Coast. The next you might be deep in the countryside around Dartmoor or Exmoor. I have delivered a non religious wedding ceremony overlooking the sea, renewal ceremony in woodland clearings, and celebrations in gardens that feel like something from a novel.
And then there are the venues. Places like Larmer Tree Gardens, Pennard House, The Italian Villa at Compton Acres, Bovey Castle and Tunnels Beaches are the sort of locations that make a celebrant led wedding feel completely unique. Each one gives couples the freedom to create a bespoke wedding ceremony that actually reflects who they are.
In fact, here is me at Larmer Tree!

Beautiful right?
That freedom is really the heart of what I do. When people ask what is a celebrant or what does a celebrant do, the simple answer is this: a wedding celebrant UK works with couples to create something personal. Not a template. Not a script that has been used a hundred times before. A story led wedding ceremony that is built around their lives together.
Or, that's what I do anyway...
The other thing that makes the South West special is the people who work in weddings here. There is such a brilliant pool of talent. Photographers, florists, musicians, planners, cake makers, venue teams, everyone brings a level of creativity that makes each wedding feel like its own little world.
For example, look at this sensational spot!

So yes, this is a small post. Just me popping up to say that being a wedding celebrant here really is something special.
And if you happen to be searching for a wedding celebrant near me somewhere in the South West, well, you are already looking in a very good place.
